I had originally found some cute Disney shirts on clearance at Walmart. When I bought them, I didn't really have any intention of altering them in any way. I thought I could possibly make a skirt to go with each one or the girls could just wear them with shorts.
But then when I got them home and actually had the girls try them on, I realized that the shirts were cut awkwardly. They were really slim and really long. As I was mulling over what to do with them, I somehow came up with the idea of attaching ruffles onto the bottom hem to actually lengthen the too-long shirts into little shift dresses.
And I was really pleased with how they came out.
Emmaline had a Minnie themed dress, naturally. Minnie Mouse is her absolute FAVORITE. And she LOVES this dress. It is the first thing she grabs for whenever it is clean.

Riley has Marie from the Aristocats on hers.

Adrianne has a "Fab 5" themed dress.

But what for Max?
A while later I found some Cars 2 fabric at Walmart. It had Mater and Finn McMissile all over it. For those who haven't seen the movie, Cars 2 is a James-Bond style parody where the characters travel all around the world. I decided that a Cars 2 themed set would be perfect because my son LOVES the Cars movies AND there is also the World Showcase at Epcot.
I sewed him up some shorts. I made these out of a black linen fabric so they would be cool. I used the Cars 2 fabric to add patch pockets and a cuff. Then I appliqued a top with Lightening McQueen.

Max gets so excited whenever he sees this outfit. He really enjoys having Lightening on his shirt.
