I had read and heard a lot of neat things about this park. It is part theme park, part zoo. There are so many nooks and crannies to explore and many Disney lovers agree that the themeing of this park is arguably the best of any of them.
The entire family was up and on the first Shades of Green bus out to Animal Kingdom. We got there right around the time they opened and made our way over to Kilimanjaro Safari. This is a really neat ride where you ride a big open sided bus through the grasslands where there are a large variety of animals to see. Many of the animals can walk right up to the bus if they wanted to! It was a really neat experience.
I happened to hand over the camera to Matt to take pictures while I held Max on my lap. I put them all together in a slideshow:
After getting off of Kilimanjaro Safaris, we headed over to Kali River rapids to grab some fast passes. While we were waiting for our fast pass window to open, some people made their way over to Expedition Everest while we took the littles over to the Marajah Jungle Trek.
While we were walking through the Jungle Trek, Max managed to take his shoe off and throw it into one of the animal areas! Luckily, it wasn't a harmful animal, so a kind cast member was able to retrieve it for us.
After everyone had been on Expedition Everest (this is a rollercoaster where you are trying to get a glimpse of the elusive Yeti) several of us went over to ride Kali River Rapids. We were SOAKED, but it was also a lot of fun.
Then we all gathered together again and headed over to Dinoland. The big kids and grown ups were going to ride on Dinosaur, while the littles were able to either play at the Boneyard or ride Triceratops Spin.
Since this park closes so much earlier than the others, we decided to just do a longer day and eat lunch in the park.
We ate lunch at Restaurantosaurus then quickly ran over to try to catch the Festival of the Lion King show.
The Festival of the Lion King was a super cute show. It was so cool to see all the awesome costumes that the cast wore. We stat in the warthog section! I love Pumba!
After this we had a little bit of time to kill before we could go see the Finding Nemo show. I had heard that this show was really good, so I was really excited to get to see it.
While we waited, we went to go see the 3D show It's Tough To Be a Bug. This was a cute movie. It's all shot from the perspective of a bug and Flik (the ant from Bug's Life) shows you just how hard it is to be a bug in today's world.
After the movie was over we walked over to where Finding Nemo was playing. But I was so sad to find out that the show was already full. It was late and the kids were tired, especially the babies who hadn't napped yet, so we decided to just go home and not try to catch the next show. Of course I was bummed, but it was the right thing to do and I will just make it a point to see it next time!
After we all got back home we were all pooped!
BUT Matt and I still had a big night ahead of us! It was our date night! We were celebrating our 10th anniversary, so I had booked a fancy dinner at Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodges (another Disney resort).
**Disclaimer: I am HORRIBLE about remembering to pull my camera out and take pictures. Besides the photos that Matt took of the Safari, I didn't have ONE SINGLE PICTURE on my camera from this day. FAIL! Fortunatly, my wonderful father in law took several and sent me some on a cd. All the following pictures are ones that he took. Thank you Trevor!***
