Disney Part 7: DATE NIGHT! Artist Point

After leaving the kiddos behind with their grandparents and uncle and aunt to watch them for the evening, we headed out on our date. It was such a huge blessing to know that our kiddos were in good hands and would be snoozing before we came home.

It was drizzling the whole way there. I was really hoping that the rain would let up while we were eating our dinner so that way we could go to Epcot and walk around after our dinner. Epcot is both Matt and my favorite park and I specifically scheduled our date night on this night since Epcot would have extra magic hours.

We chose to eat our meal at Artist Point.  Our dinner was very yummy. I ordered a cocktail (big mistake! Alcohol makes me so sleepy!) and Matt had a glass of wine.

For appetizers, I ordered the smokey portabella soup. The soup was one of the best things I think I have ever tasted! It was wonderful!

Matt ordered the cheese plate. Most of Matt's cheeses were really tasty too (he liked all of them, but there was one that I didn't like).

There was also really yummy bread with black salt butter. I could have eaten the whole loaf but tried to limit myself so I would have room for the rest of our food.

For dinner, Matt ordered the seared scallops served with mushroom risotto.

I had the cedar planked salmon served with grilled vegetables.

I LOVED Matt's risotto and his scallops were very good too. I was sort of unimpressed with my dish though. It was good, but nothing exceptional. I think I would have preferred the other entree I had been debating.

After dinner, we ordered some sort of chocolate lava cake that had a berry sauce on the side. It came with fresh whipped cream and some seasonal berries.

Again, this was good, but not remarkable. I think by this time I was too full to really appreciate anything.

After settling our bill we caught the bus and headed to Epcot.

Once we got there Matt convinced me to ride Spaceship Earth AGAIN! After that, we decided to head out to the world showcase. I really love walking around the different countries and getting to see all the little details and designs. We had a really good time, but I was REALLY tired. Matt had tried a few different beers from around the world and we went into many shops, but didn't purchase anything.

We also went on the ride Maelstrom, which Matt says has changed a lot since he last went on it as a child.

Just about the time the park was to close, we decided to go ahead and head home. It was approaching midnight and I was SO TIRED. All the early mornings and late nights were really starting to catch up with me, never mind that I actually had a drink that night which made me all the more sleepy.

Since we stayed out so late, there were no more buses running directly to Shades of Green. We were going to have to walk back to our hotel from the Polynesian. It's really not a far or unpleasant walk, but since I was already so tired it felt much longer. Poor Matt too because I kept complaining how sleepy I was! He was a good sport and we finally arrived back into our room and I'm not ashamed to say I just crashed without even bothering to change my clothes!
