A little while ago, one of the ladies I know from a sewing message board posted a 1950's vintage girls dress pattern that she intended to make for her daughter. She was wanting fabric suggestions, but when I saw the dress she wanted to make I was smitten.
Actually, I've had a hankering to make a vintage dress for a while now. I actually bought this pattern re-issue on a whim to sew for myself. Never mind that I don't really have anywhere to actually wear a dress like this one. But it was on sale for only 99¢, so I figured even if I never got around to actually sewing the dress, it wouldn't be a big deal.
But the girl's vintage pattern that was posted sent me over the edge of the cliff.
I have decided that this Christmas will be a 1950's inspired Christmas.
I am going to (try to) make my children's Christmas attire using vintage sewing patterns.
Time permitting, I am even going to sew MYSELF a dress with the re-issued pattern. (I have yet to do any garment construction for myself. I have altered things, sure, but never sewed something from "scratch".)
I even purchased the patterns already! There is NO GOING BACK!
Hopefully, my children will be dressed in some version of these come Christmas morn:

Yes, this is ridiculously over ambitious. I'm not even quite sure if my sewing skills are developed enough to finish this task, but I am going to TRY!
Wish me luck!
