Projects

Part of the reason I've been so busy this month is that I've had several extra projects I've been working on. I want to be better about documenting the stuff that I am making, mostly because I want to remember all of them! So at the end of every month, I'm going to post everything I've finished.

The first thing that I made this month was another crocheted wool cover for Emmaline to wear over her diapers. I got the yarn for them about two months before Christmas, but with all the gift making that was occupying my time back then I never got around to working them up.

I was really happy with the way they turned out, although they are WAY too big for Emmaline to wear now. Seriously, these things would fit Riley! I'll have to try again using a smaller hook so I'll get a smaller size. Fortunately for me, it was a really easy pattern to follow and took me about three nights of after-bedtime crocheting to finish, so the next one should be just a quick to make.

I've also started (but not finished) another pair of wool shorties for Emmaline in brown and pink. I've gotten done with the main body part, but I still have to add on the legs. I will post a picture of them once they are finished.

Then yesterday I went to a baby shower for a friend who I go to church with. Her and her husband just welcomed their second child, a new baby girl. I looked on her baby registry and she had about three nursing covers listed on it. Basically it is just an over-sized blanket with a strap that ties around your neck so that you can cover up while nursing your baby in public, so I knew I could just make one myself.

Nursing Cover

I love, love, LOVE the fabric I used in this. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to get it. It's so pretty and feminine yet very classy.

Then I whipped up some contoured burp cloths to use. I used leftover flannel scraps that I had leftover from when I made diapers for Emmaline. I love using flannel for burp cloths because it just absorbs all the yuck and is nice and soft on the baby's face. For the back of the burp cloths, I used white chenille (it's like terry cloth, only a smidge fancier) so these things will be able to soak up a LOT of yuck with out getting mama's (or whoever else is burping the baby) shirt dirty.

Peak at the back.

So that's what I've made this month. In addition to the other wool shorties I've yet to finish, I also have a lot of other things sitting in my sewing pile, so we shall see what I manage to finish over this next month!

Megs- it's SO easy to sew diapers! Really it is! And then it gets addicting! HA! Ask everyone around you if they could teach you how to sew. Chances are you know SOMEONE who could show you a thing or two.
