Everyday my girls amaze me at what they already know that I didn't really teach them. They are constantly picking up new words and phrases, so Matt and I have had to start being a little more careful about what we say around them.
For example, today after finishing off a big bowl of macaroni and cheese, Adrianne walked around pooching out her belly and rubbing it while saying, "My belly is distended."
REALLY??? Where the heck did she learn THAT word? I'm pretty sure that the word "distended" is NOT in the typical six year old's vocabulary. It just blows my mind that she would even remember the word and what's more, use it in the correct context. I suspect that her Grandpa Trevor had SOMETHING to do with the introduction of the medical term "distended" into her little mind. Furthermore, I'm sure he is just beaming with pride at his little protege, as he sits at his computer screen. In fact, if he was still working, I know he'd show off this blog post to all his colleagues and patients, just to show off how smart his granddaughter already is.
But then, we're ALL proud of how smart our girls are.
I know that my girls will only continue to surprise me with all the information and knowledge that they contain in their little heads, and I look forward to those moments.
