Sunday Adventures

Today was a pretty good day for the girls. First off, we went to church and they had fun seeing their friends there.

This afternoon, we took Adrianne, Riley and Emmaline to the Austin Children's Museum. On Sunday afternoons between 4-5, admission is free so we figured it would be a nice way to get out of the house without spending a bunch of money. They really enjoyed themselves. The whole place is very kid friendly and encourages the kids to explore and discover. There were exhibits on transportation, multicultural families, a little garden, and several other areas the girls played in. We were only there for an hour, so there was still a lot more exploring that could have been done, but we'll be able to go back other times. And like most other museums, the center has both permanent and feature exhibits, so there will always be new things to discover there!

After we visited the museum, Matt took us to Whole Foods and BOY what an experience that is! That place is HUGE and it's right downtown so the grocery store has it's own parking deck! It's so funny because you ride escalators in and out of the store, and the "down" escalator was specifically designed to allow the shopping carts to be on the escalators. The store carries mostly organic foods and is really up-scale. I told Matt that I don't think I could ever do regular grocery shopping there because I would be on sensory overload. Everywhere you turn there are samples being offered of their products and several specialty sections through out the store. For example, there was a section that featured chocolate goods, such as candies, covered nuts and fruit, with a person whose job it is to help you pick out what you'd like. There were other specialty sections for coffee, fish, wine, bakery with artisan breads, and several others. Whole Foods also has it's own Starbucks, gelatto, and resteraunt in there. Really I left the place somewhat overwhelmed. Although Matt and I did figure out that it would be WAY cheaper to buy our milk there vs at the regular grocery stores. I don't buy very many organic products, but I do buy organic milk, and I could save about $2 per gallon if we purchased it at Whole Foods.

So that was our adventures for today. Tomorrow......regular grocery shopping!
