The Great Experiment

I'm SOOOOOO excited! My package arrived today!

Now I know that you are all sitting there wondering "what is she talking about??? What did she get?" Well, I'll tell you. I'm talking about my NEW cloth diapers. (Well, they aren't really for ME, but I got them for Emmaline!)

(Yes Linda, it took me three babies, but I think I finally see your point about cloth diapers!)

Anyway, they are here and I'm excited! Why the switch? Well, I'll tell you. I've always used disposable diapers and been pretty happy with them. But lately, I've become increasingly annoyed with them. You see, every time Emmaline pooped, it ALWAYS leaked out of her diaper. ALWAYS. So I was constantly having to clean her up and her clothes. It didn't matter what brand of diaper I used, whether or not she had on a clean, dry diaper, or how tightly I fastened her diaper. EVERY SINGLE ONE leaked. So one day as I'm sitting there, cleaning up yet another mess, I start thinking to myself, "sheesh, if I'm constantly laundering poopy clothes I might as well just be using cloth diapers instead of spending all that money on diapers and then having to do laundry anyway!"

So I talked to a few friends who I knew used cloth diapers and I did a lot of research online. I found TONS of options, some of which were VERY expensive. But I decided to go pretty basic/low key with some prefolds and diaper covers. I only spent as much as I normally would have spent on diapers in a month. That way if I find that I hate using them, I can just start buying diapers again, no big deal, no fortune wasted since I would have spent the same amount on disposable diapers (that would just be tossed into the trash can). And if i find that I like using the cloth diapers? Well, then hopefully by the end of this month, I will have a better idea of what I need to get more of, what stuff I like using, and what didn't work for us, and I can buy accordingly with my "diaper money".

So this is my great experiment: Trying out cloth diapers for one month.

Isn't her tooshie as cute as SHE is now????

Oh and by the way, Matt is NOT happy about any of this. Not one little bit! (Although I did ask his permission before I spent the money.)
