It's Official......

MATT PASSED HIS TExES EXAM!!!!

Of course we are VERY excited about this! He is now eligible to teach in a classroom once he completes the summer course. So we are one step closer to him having a job in the fall.

Other news: I am now considered an OFFICIAL resident of Texas. That's right, I went and got my NEW Driver's License today. Boy was it a hassle! First off, when you apply for a driver's license, there is SO much red tape to go through. The state of Texas no longer recognizes other states' issued driver's licenses as a form of "primary" documentation, they only accept it as a "support" document. Really I understand this requirement since it's impossible for the people who work at the Texas Department of Safety to know what the official driver's licenses in all 50 states look like, so it would be easy for someone to come in with a fake license and pass it off as a real one. So I needed to have a CERTIFIED copy of my birth certificate. Well, the problem was, I didn't have one. I had the birth certificate that they issued my mom at the hospital when I was born, and that's the only one she's ever used all my life to establish my identity. But sadly, that paper doesn't cut it any more. Again, too many fake documents being passed off as real ones. Lucky for me I happen to have moved to the state capital of the state that I was born in, so I was able to make a trip down to their vital statistics office and pick mine up. The hitch: I had to drive downtown to get it! That was the furthest out into the heart of Austin that I have ever driven on my own. But I made it, and $22 and an hour later, I was off to the DPS to get my license. Of course, the DPS office is this little, dinky, way-too-small office located next a PAWN shop with NO ROAD signs letting you know you are about to pass the DPS. SO it took me several passes and a phone call to Matt to find the right building. Once I was there, I had about 25 people in line in front of me. So Emmaline and I hung out there for about two more hours, but I FINALLY got my license.

I'm just glad it's OVER!

Right now Emmaline is playing on the floor on her belly. She now lifts her head nice and high and pushes her chest off the floor. She can also inch-worm her way towards her toys and spin herself around in a little circle. She is getting SO big!

Oh and now Riley seems to have pink-eye! GREAT! (not!)
