Late last night Max finally succeeded in rolling over. He only did it two times, but he did it! He was also quickly reminded that he does NOT like to be on his belly. I saw him trying to roll over on the other side today, so we'll see how long it takes before he can do it too.
Today, out of nowhere, Emmaline counted up to 10 all by herself. I have done NOTHING to work on counting with her so I can only assume that she picked it up all on her own from either her sisters or her toys.
This past weekend I had Adrianne do a reading level assessment/placement test to figure out at what level she is actually reading independently. There are several different methods used to determine this so I chose to use two different assessments. On one, it said she is reading independently at a 3rd grade level. The other test indicated that she can read well even into 5th grade levels. I should note, however, that neither of these assessments measure comprehension, which means that even though she can decode a written word, she may not have any clue what it actually means. I found this knowledge helpful because now I can select more appropriate reading materials for her at the library that will help her advance even more.
Riley, well, Riley hasn't done anything new recently but one thing I know she is very proud about doing is whistling. Both Adrianne and Riley have been trying to figure out how to do it for a while now and Riley finally figured it out. She likes to gloat that she can do it and Adrianne can't: a true victory for a little sister. I find it funny because while Riley can whistle, she can't do it very loudly yet. It's almost like a whisper-whistle. But I keep encouraging her to keep practicing and eventually it will get louder.
