Making Cents of it all

Well, we are back in full swing with school. The girls and I started on Monday and they are already doing wonderfully with their lessons. I can already attest that doing 1st grade work with Adrianne and Kindergarten lessons with Riley IS going to take up more time this year, but we will still manage.

Emmaline is doing great with the change in schedule too, and she's been a doll about playing on her own while I'm working with the older two. I'm sure there will be many days when she decides not to cooperate as well as she has been, but so far she's done great!

Right now Riley's lessons are a basic review of shapes and letters, plus the sounds that they make. Basically things she learned last year doing pre-K work. The new thing she's learning right now has been focusing on getting her to read more and more on her own. In this area, she is doing wonderfully, and I'm so proud because she hasn't even turned 5 yet! (I know there are many children who learn to read prior to being 5, but I still can't help but be proud of her progress.)

Adrianne has also been reviewing things she worked on last year (basic subtraction/addition, continuing with reading and the like) but the new thing we've started working on is learning to count money. At first she was having some difficulty with the concept of mixing coins (she did fine when all the money was of the same denomination) and getting the right sums, but slowly she is figuring it all out.

Matt has also been hard at work this week. He has put in some very long days, but overall is really looking forward to working with the group of students he has this year. I know that by sometime next week, things will settle down for him and he'll have more of a chance to relax during his time off.

I had an appointment today for Little Brother and everything is still looking fabulous with him. Since I have been doing school with the girls, my nesting/cleaning has been put more on hold, so I've not had too many extra projects going on this week. The only thing I have been doing in preparation for Little Brother's arrival is trying to continue cooking extra food to have in the freezer for once he is born. So far this week I have added cinnamon-vanilla pancakes and some chili and I hope to add some stuffed shells and black bean burritos later this week. If I continue to do this good about making extra food to freeze, it looks like we'll all be eating like kings (and queens!) once this little guy arrives!

that food sounds amazing! I would L-O-V-E a tutorial on some of your freezer cooking along with recipes! Especially the pancakes and black bean burritos! :-D
