Happy Birthday Riley Roo!

Let the birthday season commence!

Riley kicked things off for us yesterday. For the past week she has told EVERYBODY we met, "It's my birthday soon." She has been so excited to finally have her birthday. She has had a birthday wish list a mile long for ages now and has been telling me since February what she wanted for her birthday meal or cake.

Finally it was the big day!

We had church in the morning so we delayed presant opening until after we got back. However, I did let her wear her birthday out fit to church.

It's actually only half completed. I intend to applique Mulan (her favorite Disney princess) onto the shirt, but ran out of time/steam. I actually didn't even finish the skirt until Sunday morning!

Adrianne helped me pick out the fabrics, but honestly I've been eyeing them for ages now wondering what I could make with them. I resisted buying any because I didn't have a specific project in mind, but once I saw it again at the store I KNEW it needed to be Riley's birthday outfit. And her favorite color is purple, so this worked out perfectly.

Church started later than usual and so we didn't end up coming home until 3pm. I quickly went and wrapped up all her gifts so she could turn right around and open them!

Riley was very generous this year and allowed her sisters to help open all of her gifts.

Here's the loot she made out with:

Rapunzel card, stickers and some fun money from Great Aunt Cindy and Uncle Wilfred

Microphone from Great Grandma Craig. Riley LOOOOVES to sing so she LOOOOVES this present!

A Liv Doll Hairdresser head from Grandma Debbie and Paw Paw. This is one of those dolls where you get to style their hair. Bonus is that the hair on the doll is actually a wig that she can wear! She's been wanting one of these for ages and was so excited when she opened it!

Liv Doll clothes (they are like Barbies but with more joints!), wig, and some squinkies from Aunt Christine

Musical Rapunzel  Jewelry Box from Great Grandma and Grandpa Hicking

Tinkerbell Dress up doll from Grandma Linda and Grandpa

Bead kit (makes bracelets and necklaces) and Princess play set from Matt and I

A puppet theater that Adrianne made. She included different backdrops/scenes and a little booklet that shows you how to make different puppets.

After presents we went and worked on her cake. This year Riley chose a chocolate cake with whipped vanilla frosting. She wanted a circle layer cake. And it HAD to have SPRINKLES!

For dinner, she wanted pancakes. Only I forgot to buy more eggs. So she said she would be okay with tacos. But then I was tired from the long day and didn't really want to cook dinner. She "settled" for Chipotle!

After we had dinner we turned off the lights and sang her happy birthday.

So now Riley is seven and claims it's the "BEST AGE EVER!"
