Maybe The Groundhog Was Right?

It is REALLY starting to warm up outside and I couldn't be more delighted about it. After our last cold snap I was itching for it to get warmer again. For the past few days it has been in the 70s and the forecast for the next week follows a similar pattern. It is downright DELIGHTFUL to get to wear short sleeves in February.

One of the reasons I'm glad that it's warmed up is I have several school activities we will be doing next week that are outdoors so it will be nice to not need to bundle the kids up to do them. Right now we are doing our unit study on dinosaurs so I am planning on taking the girls to the prehistoric section of Zilker Botanical Gardens to do some exploring of what plants were around when dinosaurs roamed the earth (we'll also enjoy all the other flowering parts of the gardens as well while we are there). I also plan to visit the Dino Pit at Austin's Nature and Science Center. The girls have already been there before back when the grandparents visited, but they really enjoyed it and it will help them better understand about paleontologists and what they do. I LOVE living in a big city where we have access to so many great learning opportunities!

So an early spring would be totally fine by me!

(As an aside, there are NO major Groundhog Day festivals held in Texas. I found this rather strange, seeing as Texas is such a large state. So I defaulted to Punxsutawney Phil's predictions for this year)
