We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with Cory and Rachel. There was SO much yummy food and good company. I was so sad to see them leave.
But now I turn my attention to Christmas and realize that time is already getting short. There is so much on my list to do this year and I wanted to make sure that the girls and I didn't get lost in the bustle and hustle that sometimes comes along with Christmas, so this year I have committed to celebrating
with the girls. I really wanted to make my own felt Advent calendar, however I know I've already got too many irons in the fire, so I will have to work on that for next year. So I improvised by turning an old cork board into a make-shift Advent calendar by using scissors to cut out the cards. On the back of each card is an activity to be done each day as a family. The activities range from simple stuff like "making a holiday craft" or "drinking hot chocolate together" to bigger things like "attend a Christmas party" and "read the Christmas story from the Bible". I'm really excited about all the stuff Matt and I will get to do with the girls this season. I want them to make memories that will last forever, so I hope that this is just the beginning of a family tradition for us.
In keeping with my Advent mood, I will also be having an Advent blog! I plan to change the back ground on my blog everyday (and hopefully post too!) leading up till Christmas. I'm also posting a few pictures of our Christmas decorations that Cory and Rachel helped put up the day after Thanksgiving. All I can say is I'm so thankful that they helped because it made it so much easier.
The girls will NOT stop playing with this!
