Bad Days

Some days it just seems as if the universe is conspiring against you. For us, yesterday was one of those days.

It didn't start off as a bad day. In fact, when we got up in the morning, the day was ripe with promise including the prospect of SNOW (which is a big deal this far south in Texas) and the delivery of a new package.

Matt went off to substitute and the girls and I started our routine at home. I was SO excited about the package I was waiting on because it was a new car seat that we need since Emmaline is about to grow out of the one she has. I've been gathering together all the birthday money she is getting sent to purchase a new one, and on the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend, I found a KILLER deal on a great car seat, so I went ahead and ordered it. I had done a TON of research and I managed to get this one half off with free shipping AND a bonus free umbrella stroller. So I waited and waited and waited and no packages all day long.

Finally Matt got back home from work and he had had a long day. I imagine that Fridays are always a little hard because all the kids start getting antsy for the weekend and mentally check out. He was very tired and hungry so I quickly made dinner and then afterwards he layed down to take a short nap.

While Matt was napping my package FINALLY arrived. I was downright giddy about it getting here and I quickly opened the boxes up to play with the new car seat. Then after looking at it, I started to wonder if it was going to fit IN the car (we've got such a small car that fitting three car seats across can be quite challenging). So I took it out and tried to get the new seat in. It was a no go. (And by no go, I mean I can't even get the car doors to shut.) I was SO bummed. Now I didn't try every possible combination because it was late, but I'm still not sure it's going to work. So, there is a good chance I'm going to have to return the new seat and try to find something else. Sigh.

After Matt woke up from his nap he happened to look at our online banking and discovered that the bank had taken money out of our account AGAIN. The money they are taking out was for some bonds that we cashed in two months ago. Apparently, whenever the teller cashed them in, he/she did it wrong and they gave us too much money. So two weeks ago, the bank reached into our account and took some money out. About five days after they took the money out we got a post card in the mail TELLING us they took the money out (yeah, thanks for the head's up, NOT!) And like I said, yesterday Matt noticed that they did it again. We were both really upset because our rent check had not cleared yet and with the money the bank took out of the account, we were going to go into the red. I'm still SO frustrated about why exactly it is even LEGAL for a bank to take money out of your account to fix THEIR error WITHOUT giving PRIOR notice. I don't care at all that they are getting the money back. If it's not ours, then it's not ours. But the whole no notice deal is ridiculous because it leaves the account holder with no time to try to make sure that they have enough money in the account to cover all their outstanding checks. Then when we woke up this morning, he checked online again and found that the rent check DID clear yesterday AND we were in the red about $400+ and had overdraft fees applied. Thankfully he was able to go into the bank today and the manager was very nice and agreed to return the overdraft fees. Matt said that the manager was baffled about how they had calculated the bonds wrong and gave us about 45% MORE than we should have gotten (yes, in the last month, we've had about $700 taken out of our account). So at least that's semi fixed for now.

Last night I also noticed that I lost the diamond out of my engagement ring. I have NO clue where on earth I even lost it or really how long it's been missing. I have a feeling that I probably lost it sometime in the past two days and since I haven't really ventured out of the house, there is a good chance that it is somewhere in the house. But I don't even know what room to start looking in! So now I'm on the lookout, however a girl's got to vacuum sometime!

OH and it DIDN'T snow either.
