As busy as my life is sometimes, I must admit a lot of the day to day activity is more mundane. And let's face it, that's hard to blog about. Yes there are little snippets every day which set each one apart, but often they are so minute that it's difficult for me to remember to document them. And that's so frustrating for me because I know that when my children are older, it will be EXACTLY those little nuances that I will yearn to remember! I suppose it's just going to be one of those Catch-22 type of situations.
But the basic pattern of my life looks something like this:
1.) Matt heads off for work. Generally we all snooze through this. Yes I am that bad wife who fails to see her husband off every morning. He just gets up way too early!
2.) Kids wake, generally one by one, join me in bed and finally coax me to wake up and make them breakfast. I'll be honest, this is one of my FAVORITE parts of my day. I love snuggling up with all four of my babies and being smooshed together in an ever shrinking bed.
3.) Fix kids breakfast. Take the dog out and feed him.
4.) LIFE! This is the category where most of my dreaded chores occur: laundry, dishes, picking up the house, running errands that must be done during business hours, etc.
5.) Kids have lunch, followed by Maxton's naptime.
6.) While Max is napping, the girls and I are busy doing school. Max is FINALLY starting to stretch out his nap times a bit (HALLELUJAH!) so we are actually getting about 95% of our schoolwork done before he wakes. This. is. AWESOME! Of course, soon we will be adding in even MORE subjects, but we'll just have to see how it goes.
7.) Kids have a snack and then MOVIE TIME! This is where I get one of my few breaks for the day. Yes, I have succumbed to allowing the TV to entertain my kids while I regain my sanity. This is usually when I hop on the computer, catch up on emails, read, or generally zone out.
8.) Generally Matt comes home around now, but sometimes it's later. This cues the start of the "dinner rush" where I juggle making dinner and keeping kids out of the kitchen (for safety reasons) WHILE also keeping them happy.
9.) After dinner there's a brief reprieve where the kids have a chance to interact with their dad. I would like to emphasize the BRIEF part.
10.) BEDTIME madness. Snacks, pajamas, teeth brushing, prayers and lights out. Two of our kids are now self sufficient and can do all these tasks on their own, however I have to help the littles.
Generally by the time the lights go out, I am BEAT and end up either decompressing by watching tv shows on the computer with Matt, zoning out by surfing on the computer, or (my favorite) getting all my sewing things set up on the kitchen table and working on whatever project I happen to be doing at that time.
As you can see, blogging appears nowhere on the "ways to decompress" list, so I suppose that's why it doesn't get done often enough!
