A visit from the tooth fairy

Yesterday was a big day around here.

First, as I posted yesterday, Mr. Bubbles passed away. The girls still haven't noticed it yet though. We are by no means trying to hide the fact that he is indeed dead, however, Matt was curious to see how long it would be before they figure it out. I spent most of the day feeling rather guilty that our fish had died, since the poor creature was on the very bottom of the totem pole around these parts. EVERYTHING got my attention and care before he did. Heck, I'm sure he would have died a long time ago if Matt hadn't started feeding the poor thing, as I always forgot. But I keep trying to tell myself that we had had him for a while so it was just his time to go. I know, it's a lame excuse, but I need some absolution for my soul! Lesson learned? No more fish around these parts for me!

The other big event of the day was Adrianne (finally!) loosing her first tooth. I had looked at it the night before when we were brushing teeth and I knew that it would fall out yesterday. It was just barely hanging on. She was so excited. Well, sure enough at lunch time she comes up to me and shows Matt and I her tooth. She was very excited.

Then Matt told Adrianne about the tooth fairy. I hadn't planned on doing the whole tooth fairy thing with my kids, but Matt wanted to, and of course when Adrianne found out that there was a little fairy who traded teeth for money, she was downright giddy! So we stored her tooth in a safe place until bedtime and the whole day she kept thinking about how the tooth fairy was going to visit her and she wondered if she would get to see this pretty pixie.

Bedtime came and she tucked her wee little tooth under her pillow as she drifted off into sleep. Then Matt got to play tooth fairy and went and swapped out the tooth for the payment. I've heard from many other parents about the recent inflation in the going rate for teeth (some have boasted of leaving $5 for one tooth!), however, since our tooth fairy is on a budget, she only left $0.25. But when Adrianne awoke this morning, she couldn't have been happier about her quarter. She has already tucked it away and is eagerly awaiting the next tooth to fall out so she can get another quarter and go to the sore and buy *gasp* CANDY.

You know, so she can make the REST of her teeth fall out! HA!
