Close Call!

My cell phone met an untimely end on Friday.

Friday was a busy day. It was Adrianne's 8th birthday and we had to make a quick trip to the grocery store to pick up a few items for her birthday dinner and still make her birthday dessert. I had my phone in my pocket while I was running errands. After the night's festivities, I decided to wash my jeans since Adrianne splattered them with raw egg when she was trying to break one open.

Only I absent mindedly forgot to remove my phone from my pocket before putting them in the wash. I didn't even realize my blunder until the next day when I was looking for it so I would have it while I took the girls out to do some birthday shopping.

I tried giving my phone a "rice bath" in hopes that would dry it out and maybe it would work again. But after over 24 hours of sitting in a bowl covered with rice my phone wouldn't work.

As luck would have it though, the last time I upgraded my phone I kept the old one. I was able to dig out my old phone, charge it back up and it worked! Now the whole reason I replaced that phone in the first place was because the screen was shorting out. It would work and then go completely black, but the phone still worked fine. So far it's working properly, and I'm hoping it stays that way so it can buy me some more time until my phone contract is up for another phone upgrade when I can replace it cheaply.

So after that close call, I now have a phone again.

(I will have more that I post about Adrianne's birthday tomorrow.)
