The last half of the year always poses a special challenge for me. This is mostly because from August on, we have a birthday every month and then Christmas to get through. And although it's by no means easy on my bank account, that's not really my biggest problem.
This year, my biggest problem is coming up with IDEAS for all the presents that need to be purchased. My kids never really NEED anything (trust me, I often feel that we have way too many clothes, shoes, toys, etc.) and I must admit that generally speaking, they don't ASK for much either. Sure if we are going down the toys aisle then there is a massive case of the "I wants" but day to day, they never really express any desire for any new things, which sometimes makes it very hard to come up with ideas for birthday presents.
And to complicate things even more, Adrianne is getting to that weird "in-between" stage where she's loosing interest in some things (like baby dolls, princesses, stuffed animals) but not quite interested in more grown up things like clothes. So with every idea I come up with, I'm constantly second guessing myself if she will REALLY like something or if she'll think it's too babyish.
So what's a parent to do????
Actually I have a FEW ideas, but there are just SO many people who love them so much and all want to give them presents that it makes it challenging to come up with enough ideas to go around. And even if I come up with enough ideas to make it through the birthday rounds then I have Christmas right around the corner and have to start the brainstorming all over again!
Really, I know that my girls are absolutely just so BLESSED, and for that I am grateful.
Now off to come up with something for Riley's birthday as it's only 3 short weeks away. Wish me luck!
****UPDATE****
After wandering the toy aisles at Target for WAY too long today, I finally have a list of ideas. So HURRAY for me!
