All last week I worked on finishing up the last few details that need to be done before Little Brother gets here. I realize that I've still got a little over three weeks left, but at the same time, just knowing that he COULD decide he needs to come out any day has really got me going.
After spending all that time cleaning up bathrooms on Monday, I really haven't done much more cleaning, so there is still plenty of that type of work to be done over the remaining weeks.
I have, however, started sewing all those tiny diapers I wrote about. I have finished four and need to finish up two more (I have them cut out, pinned and ready to go but long sessions at my sewing machine are no longer comfortable for me, so I've had to break it up some). I have also finished crocheting one newborn sized wool diaper cover and am super close to finishing up another one (only one leg cuff and the waistband left!) so I hope to knock that out tonight. Then I can get those lanolized and they will be ready for use!
On Friday night, the girls and I went out and picked up the car seat for Little Brother. I was able to take advantage of a program that Babies R Us was running, where if you turn in an old/unusable car seat (crib, stroller, pack n'play, etc.) they would give you a coupon for 25% off of a new item. Since we had PLENTY of unusable car seats lying around the house, (3 from the crash, then one that had expired that I was hanging onto for just this purpose) I took them all in and got Little Brother's car seat for about $50 cheaper than I would have paid regularly. And BONUS is that now the foyer to my house no longer looks like a car seat graveyard! Now all I need to do is double check that the seat actually FITS inside our car by installing it in (which shouldn't be a problem, but if for some reason it does then I can always take it back). Other than that, Little Brother should be all set for his very first car ride!
One project I'm getting a little frustrated over not being able to complete yet is finishing painting the chest of drawers. It's the last item I need to do to check Emmaline's/Little Brother's room off my "to-do" list. I have totally cleaned out the room and made up the toddler bed, I just can't transfer Emmaline's clothes in there yet (currently they are in my room) because I can't get that chest painted! The weather has just not cooperated, and it has rained at least once a day for the past four days. I know that if it doesn't get finished it's not the end of the world, as I can always get to it later, but I'd still really like for it to be done.
So, little by little, I'm tying up all the loose ends. Now if we could just work on this NAME business!
