Travel Preparations

Matt's winding down with summer school. Tomorrow his students will retake their TAKS tests, and hopefully they will all pass! I think it's finally starting to actually feel like summer to him, since he'll finally get a nice, long break.

This week is going to be FULL for me and the girls though. I've got a lot to get done before we leave for our trip. In addition to all the packing and shopping for our trip, I also need to get the house cleaned up and in order before we leave, all the bills must be caught up and the mail held while we are away. I've also got another prenatal appointment scheduled for tomorrow.

Yet on top of all the travel preparations, I am still trying to fit in some school for the girls this week. I've debated what school materials I should bring with us while we are away. I almost even talked myself out of attempting to do any school at all while we are gone (after all, it IS supposed to be our vacation!) but I just couldn't bring myself to do it since we'd loose about three and a half weeks where we could be getting ahead for the fall. So while I am bringing a lighter load (we'll be focusing just on reading and learning to tell time and about money), I still plan on trying to do something with the girls just about everyday.

So today we started our "travel school" stuff and I'm VERY happy to announce that Riley read for the first time on her own today! I'm so proud of her! I had a feeling she would be ready to try reading again, but wasn't sure if it would click or not. I'm still not sure if she will speed as quickly (and easily) through the curriculum as Adrianne did (after all, Adrianne was older when we started using it) but I think she'll at least make steady progress.
